Here you might find some of the trips I made during my EVS period.

If you're planning to do an EVS or just plain straight travel around Europe, maybe this will give you some ideas of where to go!

sOFIA - bULGARIA

On September I made a last moment decision of going to Sofia and visit a friend. Couldn't have made better decision. It's amazing how in a few hours I could get from one country into another. Into a city with such beautiful sightings but better than that with amazing people who made the place worth while.

Lefkada Island

On August I had the opportunity to go and visit some volunteer friends at Lefkada. Here, once again, I had the opportunity to see how it is to live in the same place with many other volunteer partners. I also had the luck to take part in a cultural event they were organizing in the town center the exact same week I went to visit them.

From this experience, the places I saw, the people I met, I can say for sure Lefkada is one of the most enjoyable places to visit in Greece!

Athens

The "On Arrival" meeting of Evs'rs in Athens. More then a travelling experience and a visit to a new and empowering city, this was an opportunity to meet other volunteers around Greece just like me and get to know what kind of work they're developing in their hosting organizations.

Romania - "Folk Friends Together"

In the month of August I had the chance as well to go to Romania in a trip organized by the cultural center "Faros" in Moudania.

"Folk Friends Together", a big traditional folklore dance festival was the aim of the young dance team from Faros. This festival took place in Targu Mures - Tarnaveni. There I saw many different traditional dances from all around the balkans.

Alongside with a small trip to the Dracula Castle and not to forget the memorable capital, Bucharest.

Mount Olympus

At the end of September I had to enjoy the good weather while I could and while it was still here. So together with Mafalda and Severi I set roam on a hiking trip all the way from Litochoro to the top of Mount Olympus.

Ioannina

On May I went to Ioannina for a couple of days. The trip is quite long, 3 hours long to be precise, by bus from Makedonia station in Thessaloniki. Though the views and people are more than worth it.

There are a lot of things to do around the city, such as visit the castle, go for a walk around the beautiful lake -the same lake that hosts students partys twice a week - or take a boat trip to an island located in the middle of the same. All around there are mountains one can hike, bike paths worth exploring. Some caves I had the chance to visit and amongst the streets many places to visit with an active night life.

Mount Athos

Mount athos is an area full of monasteries, located in the third leg of halkidiki. Here, atlhough it's prohibited for women to roam around this religious territory and visit its monasteries, it is possible to take a boat trip until the end of this area and sightsee all the constructions on the seacoast. This was exactly what I did with a fellow volunteer, Mafalda. The trip takes around 3 hours and the monasteries are described with the upmost detail by a tour guide inside the boat.

Afytos

One of the first things we had the chance to see after arriving to Greece was the famous city of Afyos, located in the beggining of the first leg of Halkidiki. With traditional houses made of stones, a spectacular beach and fine restaurants and bars located at the top of the city from where you have the most outstanding view.

Thessaloniki

Alongside with our trip to Afytos, Stavroula, our coordinator also decided to show us around Thessaloniki and to show us some places worth knowing, like a small refugee center in the middle of the city.
